Fly-by Post
Woohoo! The possible anthology I mentioned in the last post is going to be a reality! Got a call from my agent yesterday that my editor has extended a contract offer. Very exciting. No matter how many books I sell/write, I still get that buzz when I learn that a fuzzy, undefined idea in my head is actually going to become a book. I'm thrilled to be writing with such wonderful ladies as Emma Holly, Mary Janice Davidson and Catherine Spangler. No word on title or release date yet, but I'll let you know when I find out.
Now time for a public service announcement. Those of you who know me know how passionate I am about animal rescue. It's heartbreaking to walk through city "kill" shelters and know those sweet faces are going to die in a matter of days through no fault of their own. Please, spay and neuter your pets. Don't fall into the "I want my children to see the miracle of life" trap and breed your animals. There are already too many unwanted animals in the world. If you really want your kids to learn a lesson, take them to the pound and let them experience the miracle of death. I guarantee it will make a bigger impression.
And if you're thinking about a new addition to the family, check out your rescue options before you buy. A great resource is www.petfinder.com This site will list all the rescue groups in your area and the animals they have available. You can search by breed, size, etc.
Check out my bio page for a picture of my own rescue -- Karma, the boxer. Shhhh! She thinks she's a princess....so don't tell her any different. She'd be heartbroken. She actually loves her tiara, and struts around when she wears it, very careful not to shake it off.
All for now,
Vickie
