The Heat is On...

And I don't just mean these mid-nineties+ days we're having here in north Texas, although the warm weather is hard to ignore. On a farm, there's always so much outside work to do -- cutting the grass, cleaning stalls. I have a fence that sorely needs to be painted. And then there's the fun stuff -- riding horses, mostly. Here's a pic of my little paint gelding, Levi.

Isn't he the cutest thing? This was just after his bath. He was definitely meant to be a romance writer's horse. Let me show you why. See that little spot on his right shoulder? Here's a closeup...

A perfect heart. Is that sweet, or what?

Those of you who have read CARVED IN STONE might recognize his name. Yes, Levi (the character, not the horse) will get his own book soon!

In the meantime, the only Levi in my life is in his stall with a nice fan blowing on him in the afternoons while I'm out cutting grass. Not that he's spoiled, or anything...

But the heat is on in more ways than high temperature. Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines. I've got books due! I do NOT want to be one of those writers who is perpetually late to turn in books, so I'm really fighting to get done on time. I've still got a good bit to do, but I'm going to make it. I just keep telling myself that. I AM going to make it!

Which means, I'd better get off the blog and get back to writing. Oh well, guess the grass can just keep growing. I don't think I'm going to have time to commune with the lawnmower for a while.

Until next time,
Vickie
